This sculpture is similar to another in the Club (Accession number 1918.03), which was given to The Army and Navy Club by the British Naval, Military and Air Forces for the Club’s hospitality during WWI. The inscribed dedication on the plaque reads: “To The Army and Navy Club of Washington, in grateful appreciation of the splendid brotherly hospitality | The Officers of the Italian Forces of Land Sea and Air | While on military duty to the United States during the World War.”
